Thank you for being part of the CNYPA listserv community. Participation in the
listserv community is a privilege of membership in the association. To ensure
the best possible experience for all listserv members, we have established
some basic guidelines for participation.
By joining and using the CNYPA email list, you agree that you have read and will
follow the guidelines set for our group. This is a great medium in which to solicit
the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an
ongoing conversation. Listserv discussions should be limited to these topics.
Expectations:
- CNYPA seeks to foster a supportive,
collegial listserv environment. Communications
should be oriented towards increasing the
knowledge base of psychologists. The list serve
is a forum for sharing information and community
building. It is a place where differences of
opinion can be aired with courtesy and respect,
rather than through personal attack. The
discussions on the list are meant to stimulate
conversation, not to create contention.
- Consistent with APA ethical principles, list
members are aware of and respect cultural,
individual, and role differences, including
those based on age, gender, gender identity,
race, ethnicity, culture, national origin,
religion, sexual orientation, disability,
language, and socioeconomic status. Listserv
members should consider these factors when
communicating with other listserv members and
when communicating about others on the list
serve.
- Please avoid messages that are not directly
related to psychology. Don't post commercial
messages or advertisements, as well as unrelated
political messages, meetings, or products.
Messages exhorting members to advocate for
issues that are not on CNYPA’s or APA's agenda
(e.g., minimum wage, Amnesty International,
etc.) are not to be placed on CNYPA’s listserv,
no matter how worthy the cause.
- We encourage individuals to post regarding specific upcoming events that may be of interest for psychologists and/or their patients. We request that if you are advertising for your own practice that you limit those posts to no more than once monthly.
- Use caution when discussing products.
Information posted on the lists is available for
all CNYPA members to see, and comments are
subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.
- All defamatory, abusive, profane,
threatening, offensive, or illegal
communications are strictly prohibited.
- Do not post any information or other
material protected by copyright without the
permission of the copyright owner. By posting
material, the posting party warrants and
represents that he or she owns the copyright
with respect to such material or has received
permission from the copyright owner.
- Do not post any protected health information
and be cautious with case descriptions because
sharing too much detail may risk
confidentiality.
Listserv Etiquette
- Include a signature or contact
information on all messages. This way, other
members can reply to you individually rather
than to the list, if they prefer.
- State concisely and clearly the topic of
your comments in the subject line. This allows
members to respond more appropriately to your
posting and makes it easier for members to
search the archives by subject.
- Be thoughtful and careful about forwarding
messages to others outside the list, and do not
share email material that is private.
- Never assume messages remain confidential
and private.
- Do not use the list as a substitute for
direct clinical supervision.
- Do not send administrative messages such as,
“Remove me from the list,” through the listserv.
Instead, use the Web interface to change your
settings or to remove yourself from a list. If
you are changing email addresses, you do not
need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin
under your new email address. Simply change your
settings. Setting changes can be made using the
“my membership settings” tab at
https://groups.google.com/g/cnypa
